BREAKING OLD PATTERNS WITH THE CONTRARY

Life proceeds at a frantic pace. There are incessant activities for the each of us. A perpetual race against time. The clocks mark the contemporary battle deciding winners and losers. There is no time to reflect, to think, to love. Everything turns into a base surrogate for the simple but profound word “life.” Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti notes of this unceasing flow, welcomes it, and delves into it, trying to combine the material with the spiritual. The indispensable means of this process of restoration of the human essence is given by art. The soul is immersed in it. The soul, being the only incorruptible essence, stands as the protagonist of the work. The brush is not moved by the artist in this case, but rather becomes a simple and humble messenger of the experiences of everyone. The works go hand in hand with drawing, inside the rooms in which they are exposed, a brilliant and never  itinerant utopia. The comparison with today is obvious. The soul becomes a protagonist, which makes the picture special, that one should compare with the perpetually lived today. The fears, obligations, and all the baggage that each day make themselves fully visible in our lives within the work, as in an endless hall of mirrors, forces us to make comparisons. Art as both a punch and caress. Confrontation against the harsh reality and quick escape routes to popular, but unexplored, destinations. The maestro Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti is, therefore, a special messenger. An invite to perceive those streets that, due to their hectic pace, have become full of weeds. The almost archaic images reduce the elements that lead to silence and comparison with themselves. The figures are joined to each other to remind the viewer of the art in our lives today that something is missing. This element that is given by interpersonal relationships. For it is relationships that make our lives special and full of flavor. Inner and outer, reflection and comparison, materiality and spirituality. Elements in the mindset that are classified as “contrary”. And it is precisely the opposite of the choice that could undermine the constraints to which all of us often find our souls now bound and gagged. In this way, it is as if Trifiletti gives us the knife to break the bonds that hold tight our atoms thus allowing them to slide freely along the soul that they have inside. They move, they follow instinct, they adapt and do not feel locked up. So they are not confined and are an unenclosable matter, a “fluid space”.

TRIFILETTI WINS HIS BET: SUCCESS FOR “SPAZIO FLUIDO”

Trifiletti is an interpreter of the world, free from pre-conceived notions, the bearer of a message of peace. Since 2007, he has stretched white sheets out on the streets, inviting people to step on them. From these steps come figures that are intertwined with each other, hugging each other. His works, made with the “Imprints” technique, named after the streets on which they were stretched, have been exhibited in New York and Barcelona. As he himself said: “A body in movement contains life, the proof of which is obtained seeing the traces of its movements, its prints”. Subverting the system has always been the goal of this artist, who is a strong believer that has been able to create a synergy between professionalism, creativity and communication and has also taught to the absent-minded to grasp the nuances of life.

SPACE OF CREATIVE CONTAMINATION

An art of splashing colors of acrylic enamels, the use and reuse of the material. An art that speaks to modern man, trapped in a serial life, but unable to grasp the ultimate meaning of life. Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti is the interpreter of his times. White canvas stretches around the world, takes snapshots of life, without moving bodies. He captures the footprints of passersby, giving them a voice, giving them a soul. The footprints are the past, present and future. Something that is imprinted on a world that goes towards the mechanization of gestures. Inside the shopping centers. In supermarkets. In public spaces. The art ofArezzowants to talk to more people, to reach the common people, not the insiders. Places that invade art, transmitting subliminal images, positive influences.

“There was never a precise moment in my life where I approached art. I think it was born in me when I opened my eyes to life for the first time. I have never abandoned its memories and I have reciprocated by giving voice to my works and subject”. So begins Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti, artist of Catania known for the expressive spontaneity of his productions , on the occasion of his solo exhibition , held in one of the most well-known law firms of Sicily, ” Gitto & Partners .” Behind the scenes of this event, the thoughts of a simple man materialize, tied to traditional values and feelings, but with an “innovative and evolving ” vision. “Art has no boundaries” – explains the artist – “and , with its infinite richness , it dissolves the ideological barriers in order to express itself in any context. Being an artist in today’s world means having the courage to fight against the process of standardization implemented by the system, which cancels the beauty of diversity . No profession, no social role can deprive us of our identity. With my work I want to give light to the inner world of man, freeing him from sterile preconceptions”. Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti leaves a message to his buyers: do not abandon the search for one’s self. Everyday life and the inexorable ticking of time build cages of gold for people, but they cannot extinguish the light of their lives.

“SPAZIO FLUIDO”: A FACTORY BETWEEN TOGAS AND BRUSHES

The law firm Gitto & Partners, on Viale XX Settembre 28 in Catania, has greatly and deeply modified itself to become a real permanent museum of contemporary art and becomes the place of worship for the works of artist Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti. In this “liquid” society there is neither time nor place, and the definition is not provided. In “Spazio Fluido” (fluid space) – this is the name chosen by the maestro for the initiative – the contamination is total and absolute, in an old building you find a habitat ready to welcome the expressive needs of a young artist”; the white walls are attacked by vibrant colors and dazzling monumental canvases; and the physicality of artistic creation with the rationality of intellectual production; the thickness of the brush strokes and clots distract us from the soulless shelves that are loaded with practical experts on the law of strict logic; dressed in gray or blue and without a single strand out of place living with hundreds of eyes, faces, eyes, bodies – in all shapes and sizes – overflowing from the walls. Large environments and harvests are alternated along narrow corridors open to the light from slits facing the building: everything seems to be designed on the basis of those geometric colored acid or burning tangles, or “Imprints”, the paintings that the artist has enjoyed rolling along the sidewalks of Berlin, Barcelona, New York, waiting for anyone who felt like stepping on it to leave their mark . If Theodor Adorno wrote, “the actual task of art is to introduce chaos into order “, according to Arezzo di Trifiletti the apparent chaos of his art shows through an order, an energy, a belief, an existential optimism that will certainly be a source of inspiration for the young employees of the law firm.

Through works that cross genres, he undermines “a system that boasts more coldness, which excludes the authenticity of the human being, which raises barriers and exhibits appearances.” A space in continued evolution, mirror of a multifaceted reality, the artist captures being influenced by the places and people he met along his life path. A place where extravagant paraded and euphoric images, placed in frames, fill the walls of narrow corridors. A relaxing environment that promotes concentration, helping to create a lively and positive situation where people are encouraged to become aware of the management of their work – giving a better performance. That identifies a physical location, a fantastic world unto itself, a virtual reality such as that represented in the works of the maestro Trifiletti. A successful combination of different world views, lifestyles and ways of understanding existence.

FLUID SPACE

THE FUNCTION OF ART IS A DREAM COME TRUE

It is the artist Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti himself who explains the poetry that revolves around his paintings : “A painting is a kind of wonderful creation, and the creation of a framework is like the event of the birth that is at the same time, every time and for each of them , the birth of the artist”. Entering the mind within the concept of a fluid space, it seems that almost everyone has a right to live in colorful environments. It should leave behind the image of culture in order to sustain itself and, as the artist believes that today we are facing an evolution of thought, to live only for what belongs to us . The colors in this way, in absolute respect of space, serve to simplify culture. In many works on display, you can see the representation of the eye of the world where everything around you is branching out: a set of interwoven lives of silent screams, laughter mentioned, disenchanted with serenity, the passing of time, history and memory. And above, the trace of what we are, as in the case of the white sheet resting on which the artist leaves “footprints” from passersby. In the artistic path of Arezzo di Trifiletti colors exist as a source of joy, love story (SPAM), of past love and eternal love, of understanding, of motherhood, of light. But black is also used to remind us that life is also shadows, suffering and pain, the intensity of the memory of the latter.

CONTEMPORARY MAN

The contemporary is the modern man, surrounded by the world. It is a microcosm in which time and space, matter and spirit, just as fluids are formed multiple, overlapping each other in a chaotic, but passionate, tangle of identification and approval, solitude and connection, equality and diversity, that torment the essence of all being. With the Imprints the artist is able to perceive all this “matter of life that tramples on earth, because everybody has a vibration, a memory: each movement contains life and leaves a trace behind with its footprint”. So the paintings of Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti have gathered in the streets of Berlin and Barcelona the footsteps of the people who walked over the sheets and “as a tactile clairvoyance, they will have transferred their memory. The present and the past, their varied and multiform spirit”. These images are translated into “colors that sprout from the dark”, as “good it also illuminates the darkness”. Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti defines his art as “the dimension of thought, of pain, of joy, of recognizing ourselves in a world that corrupts, that labels man at the expense of his uniqueness”. Interpreting the full intent of the initiative, the art becomes a dimension of non-time, non-space. Fluid space in which one size does not exclude the other, as in the painting “The wings of music shape life”, where the ethereal can shape reality, or vice versa, according to its leitmotif throughout the spiritual artist, where each cell is a small planet, so that the matter can relive recycled in the schemes that form the backdrop to the paintings of the love story of “SPAM”. Art as an area of freedom of the spirit that redeems man in the dimension of his work.

CLAUDIO AREZZO DI TRIFILETTI : IMPRINTS AND ART TO REVEAL THE SOUL OF THE PEOPLE.

“I do not care what is said, but what I feel in my paintings represents my thoughts, my inner world, but also that in each one of us”, is what Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti stated about his art. An art that fights a globalized world, where there is no room for feelings and emotions and where man is the victim of a system that constantly wears him down, depriving him of that authenticity that makes him a real person and only that. Reduced to vegetation, humanity is exclusively dedicated to work, to gain by communicating through electronic means and putting “in their pocket”, their feelings, their inner world , their own personality. The art of Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti, denouncing all this, humanity claiming its identity, its essence, the freedom to express itself “we are a container of thoughts, memories that go omniscient, God, and it is these that we must express, art brings us closer to God makes us feel free, complete”. For this purpose, he meets the intent of placing his works, permanently, in a professional environment (the well-known law firm Gitto & Partners Catania) fully inserted into the globalized system, absorbed in its work , from the mountains of documents and files to solve, where there is no room for the sentiment for creativity. An unusual combination but significant : “art cannot be deprived of any space, but should take advantage of any place to vindicate itself, to remind humanity that real life is what we have inside”. The artist has transformed the rooms and corridors of the study into a “fluid space”, a space that becomes something else, just look up to find yourself in another dimension, our consciousness, where creativity, art and emotion envelop us, making us feel free, transported by the bright and clear coloring, from the chaos of lines, shapes that extend and intertwine expressing the disorder typical of the system that is so tangled, intricate. But behind the apparent chaos of each canvas an order, a precise meaning is hiding: the rainbow of colors, the first item that catches your eye, not only instills positivity in those who look to the place amidst the various nuances; each color conveys a feeling: joy, pain, love, hope. It gives voice to that closed-off, caged inner world, tells stories, those people who have walked on the paintings of the artist on the streets of New York, Berlin and Spain, leaving their mark with a part of themselves in each canvas. “The Tie” one of the works of Trifiletti, at the entrance of the study, expresses this perfect combination of art and professionalism, “because work means listening to the voice whispered from the heart”.

UNUSUALMIXTURE OF ART AND PROFESSIONALITY: SPAZIO FLUIDO

Colors, thoughts, images, which are transverse but are never balanced, reflections on being no longer material but spiritual. Subjects and forms derived from a pure mental abstraction that inexorably distorts the design space and work now conceived. This is “fluid space”. In a world steeped in being in a hurry, having schedules, reduced space and wedged so as to form the perfect castle that every good king would like to build, everything falls apart in front of the need to understand the reason behind this strange way of life. Our space-time is a concept that leaves little to the imagination, and that, like the ticking of a clock, leaves no way out except to chase this stupid system that allows us to stay afloat in modern society. Enough is enough. “Fluid Space” denotes a new concept of work place enriched with a surplus that is able to create a proper recycling energy in the workplace. Protagonists of the event are contemporary works of art. No longer just paperwork, documents and computer monitors, stacked symbols of modern coolness, and far and away from interpersonal relationships, but drawings, paintings and works of art that with warm strokes create a summary entering into the subconscious of those close to him all day: the workers. This new philosophy, conceived by Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti was expertly carried out by the law firm Gitto & Partners in Viale XX Settembre in Catania and by the the company I Press. The exhibition, dynamic and elastic, changes with the succession of emotions and drag in a fantastical meta-world to discover a poetic universe that rarely belongs to us even more when installed in a productive environment.

Walking along the endless Viale XX Settembre, uncertain about where to go, I do not know the area, I do not know where to look for the building. Meanwhile, I notice that I feel the same sense of disorientation and uncertainty while waiting to see the exhibition by Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti. It is my first experience with live contemporary art, and even more so in a wholly new and original place compared to the usual exhibitions, only told to me a few days before. Thanks to some colleagues, I am in front of the building where he was holding the inauguration. I go in and am already beginning to feel as if you were to enter another dimension. I start to climb a marble staircase lined with a long row of candles that begin to create a new atmosphere. It seems as if I felt myself disappear in almost all of my rationality. However, a shadow remains around the scene of the reason given by the unusual place where everything is exposed, a law firm. Joining for the first time the cold reason with warm, colored art. As I look, I read, among the many corridors, the titles of the various works, I see many topics related to love, and all its contours, even negative, a love expressed in both good times and bad. “In the works is also spirit and flesh, it takes both in life” – explains Claudio – “and the key to this is love, with all its consequences, because pain can become art”. Looking at his works, you notice an all black outline that delineates each figure strongly. It is a color that seems to come to life and tries to draw the attention of the reader, it wants you to see what the artist sees and wants to convey. A sensation described by many as “tactile clairvoyance”. The teacher feels the “vibration” transmitted by any object, be it a table, a road, or whatever. Touching, feeling what surrounds him, he manages to gather information, he discovers that everything is a witness and is impregnated with the experiences of the men who in the past, even if only in passing, have come into contact with the object before them. The purpose of the artist becomes so to extrapolate these vibrations and manifest them to the whole world through his creation. Satisfied and having seen and reviewed everything carefully, I left the building, and went back on foot with a somewhat different vision of everything that surrounds me.

THE ART OF COMMUNICATING BEYOND CONVENTIONS.

Art “meets man everywhere because it is a manifestation of the spirit, and man discovers himself through it”. With these words, maestro Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti, presents his idea of launching his own show, “The evolution of belief”, in a renowned law firm in the center of Catania, created with the desire to approach art in the human world in all its facets. The big news of the location is the meaning of the artist’s work: try to imagine the black and white paper of a study and superimpose on them the color of the works of art, what comes out is a synergy and a mixture that the user is able to find in the teacher’s own creations, creations made using a variety of techniques and materials, art that meets everyone and in every place, therefore adapting to every environment and every space. “Fluid space” is in fact the name given to the project to explain in a few words such as “artistry”, inherent in every man, meeting barriers or obstacles of any kind. However, it fits perfectly to every place and situation, upsetting the objectivity and every space-time limit. The artist as a warrior “subverts the rules of the system”, says the author, and this is the innovative scope of the project met with boldness. Lawyer Giuseppe Gitto proved to be the witness of the meeting of worlds that are only apparently different: it is the disruption of the conventions related to the profession, to find that art is in everything that is in the world. Here then Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti, who some time ago had proposed an exhibition inside a shopping mall in the province of Catania, bringing art into the world of business, now back to revive the project with even greater boldness and perseverance facing a new challenge. The exhibition is completely free of charge, within which every art lover manages to find his own soul. It is the result of a long internal meditation that led the artist to bet, presenting his works from 2000 to 2009. The idea met with enthusiasm by the curious, connoisseurs and tourists, has brought together many people, immersed in the reality of “their world”, and it has succeeded for a moment in making them feel the joy of color and part of a whole which is called Arts.

CLAY ART ARTE INVOLONTARIA

Almost losing track of where and when, he launches into a spontaneous path that leads directly to the heart, in the innermost part of the human soul, remained guarded within the works. And, while you give yourself up to chaos, love, suffering, God, the angels, passion, the life in all its facets, it collides with a man in a suit and tie, you can see the red, blue, white, leather armchairs, the wooden desks, stacks of documents, the red light flashes of the fax, the labor law books on the shelf, the yellow post-it note on the computer screen, making the impact of reality in all its concreteness strong, a contemporary reality as the art that surrounds but does not despise the magic of the environment, amalgamized in a space that resonates with vibrations. An art button in a harmonious contrast with  sobriety. A visual break in a place that now looks more dynamic, colorful, alive. A fluid space where even those who have a profession such as a lawyer can escape, inspiration, expressed as “container of a thought that goes towards omniscience”, says Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti , “Why great souls narrow in small bodies become restless souls”.

ARS AND IUS SHOW THEMSELVES IN A PERFECT UNION.

Sense and Sensibility, then, are wrapped in a warm embrace in one of the most reputable law firms in Catania which, with great foresight, decided to cover the white walls of a liberty-style apartment with colors and shapes of the works of a young artist. Two dimensions of the human being, the cold rationality and logic of labor, on the one hand, and religion that was founded by the mysteries of existence, on the other, come together in an environment in which each canvas is a window on the world, the beginning of a journey to a land that has no boundaries, a process that every human being feels the need to plow. The effect of this? Permeated by the vividness of the colors and the energy of times, it feels wrapped in a harmonic dimension where everything leads us back to the true meaning of human existence. Not just for an environment in which it is unusual to analyze human reality through the cynical eyes of ratio. In short, a combination that is unusual, at first glance, but in reality, it is an experiment of great genius. “Fluid Space” was an idea of the lawyer Gitto, who having finished the renovation of his studio, decided to make an exhibition space. “This is, of course, a marketing operation” – said the lawyer – “but first of all, I wanted to create a more harmonious working environment, where it can be ‘quid pluris’ for concentration”. It seems, therefore, that the intent of the lawyer and Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti have joined. The artist, in fact, talking about his art placed in this unusual environment, hopes that the liveliness of shapes and colors of his paintings can be a source of energy and inspiration for those who work there. Carry out their work in a space surrounded by positive art that, in the swirl of curves and strong colors, leading to the discovery of the most secluded corners of the human soul, will lead to major positive impact on the atmosphere that already used some of the study defined as “disturbing, soothing and inspiring”. The most interesting aspect of this event, totally new to our country, is that the paintings of Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti will remain on permanent display in the studio every day, which will open its doors to the public.

CATANIA LIKE BERLIN

The stairs enriched with candles create an evocative environment, elegant rooms of this style refer to a class that often the media and everyday life do not make us feel remotely. Lots of space, yet all of it is full of the sense of life spent not only between files and causes, as in fact Salvo, an employee, said. “Lawyers are complicated, whimsical and creative”. Moving through the corridors, the colors of these works illuminate the thousands of books carefully placed in the libraries of the many rooms of the studio. And already you imagine the faces of those who work within them, who sat behind the impressive desks not only bent over papers, stretching their necks in pain but people, professionals who live with serenity, involvement and lively participation in the work environment. So each user can feel like an artist. It is as if they spend every minute of their day in a hurry at a cafe where they drink their steaming black espresso with just the thought of going to complete the work of art before it becomes just a dream. Even “a resort, a cause, a petition and work require creativity” – continues Salvo- “surrounded by the music of these figures makes every single moment more enjoyable”. We meet up to pass on our expertise along with these dancing images: “sometimes you feel as if you are swallowing these pictures and then releasing them back into circulation by means of some Latin phrase that while smiling you throw here and there in the things you write”, says Sandra, the youngest among the collaborators. Proud of the project, maestro Arezzo says, “a thought in common between me and the lawyer. And all matters, everything is vibration. It is important to trace what combines capturing the spirit and the flesh and make it all participants in this gift”. A container full of excitement and stimulation, this setup; by taking the title from one of the paintings you would define it as a darkness where you can germinate and be reborn. Continuously. And in a similar location, between art, culture and progress what makes you smile is hearing those who between a panel and another, found – in their opinion – something like the exquisite taste of biting into a sandwich, while saying “is tastes like pecorino cheese!”. Commendable initiative. It is imaginative, creative and practical at the same time. For a new protagonism for all.

In a modern reality that drives people to divide life into watertight compartments, Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti tried to create a new dimension, where art and life intersect but do not cancel each other out. There are no more spaces purely designed for work, art and social life or study. Everything in a single dimension. The answer Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti preconceived from society is the creation of a non-space in a variety of locations, in a house, in a department store, “wherever it is possible to send a message”. And it is thanks to his desire to fight and communicate with the farsight of the lawyer Giuseppe Gitto, now you can enjoy a “lack of space” within a law office on the first floor of an Art Nouveau building in Viale XX Settembre, right in the historic center of Catania. In any environment, from the front desk to the archive, you can see the works, sculptures and paintings of different sizes. Simple rooms have become new worlds, the rationality of spaces is married to the irrationality of the figures, the decor with at times violent and others soft colors of the paintings. At first glance, you do not notice any connection between the paintings and the studio, but after realizing what the paintings represent, it is almost an  obvious union. “The two warriors who defend the man of today” hold to the same sword and fight together: the law protects man from the attacks and abuse of his peers and society, and art defends him from conformity and apathy, reminding him of his uniqueness and specialness.

Dynamics of live art in a “fluid space”

A melting pot of ideas of an artist who is able to transform different and unconventional environments through his sensitivity and the belief that behind every object a soul is hidden: “I was proposed to have an exhibition in this firm and I gladly accepted”. – Explains Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti – “It really is not the first time that I chose unusual places for art. In the past, for example, I chose to present my work in a shopping center between stands and trolleys. Now, the choice of a law firm stems from the desire to communicate with as many people as possible, to involve those who have never experienced the excitement of an imaginative grasp, those suggestions that only art can give”. Through “fluid space” the artist has an opportunity to relive his entire creative journey where he worked in the most beautiful cities in the world, from Berlin to Barcelona to the Big Apple, where he could experiment with the “Imprints” technique, absolute proof of our existence on this earth. A testimony of emotions, feelings, events and stories to tell with just a trace of our passage. The enthusiasm and the strength of this successful artistic collaboration took shape from the will and the strong aesthetic sense of lawyer Gitto, great art lover and friend of the artist: “I really wanted Claudio to be able to exhibit in my legal studio because in addition to having large spaces that lend themselves well to a show, I think that art can give added value to those who work here. It is a way to create a more welcoming,  dynamic and rewarding work space”. Because it is true, when art takes possession of us, it is difficult to be able to give it up.

“FLUID SPACE”: NEW ENERGY FOR CATANIA.

From now on, the study will be enriched by the art and the works of Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti, a young artist aged 30, marked by a very strong faith in God, who has traveled the world, spreading his canvases on the roads from London to Chicago via Paris and Barcelona, capturing the footprints of passersby, as proof that “a moving body contains life, seeing the traces in his movements, in his prints”. You see him in the midst of hundreds of art lovers, professionals, students or just curious people who were in the area, who came to see the transformation, Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti. He blends into the crowd, with a slightly gray pinstripe suit and thin-rimmed glasses. His works on display for the legal study, which is in a beautiful Art Nouveau building in the center of Catania, 3D canvases are complemented by stringed musical instruments, waste material or paintings in carob bark. “Even professionals” – then continued the lawyer, Gitto – “need a creative alternative to counter the ‘coldness’ of our profession made up only of appointments, phone calls and piles of paper”. At the same time, the same Claudio Arezzo “felt the need that the time was right for a new project, a new artistic dimension, because you have to live every environment, professional or otherwise, in a manner befitting the beauty of mankind”. Claudio Arezzo di Trifiletti also told his story in a catalog titled “The Evolution of the creed,” a collection of paintings and installations from 2000 to 2009, in which his works trace the pathway over the past decade, that started and that not yet ended. Creative art and art forensics gather like this, in a great idea, becoming a project, from the energetic uncontainable load: this is “fluid space”, a place where ideas flow to become new and renewed energy.
